Born September of 53’ in Arizona. James was adopted at 6-9 months of age and grew up in Glendale, Arizona also lived in Colorado and Gallup, New Mexico. He began silversmithing in 1975 in Gallup, he started by mastering to make 10 rings in one week. James work is considered more modern and contemporary style using an inlay technique. He specializes in stone against stone which is by far the hardest type of inlay. Stone against stone requires a lot of patience and great precision to hand grind and fit each stone snugly against the next without leaving gaps between stones.
