Handmade by Dennis and Nancy Edaakie
Dennis was born in 1931 in Zuni, New Mexico and he belonged to the Parrot clan. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He began making jewelry in 1954 and was taught by his uncle Jacob Haloo. Nancy was born in Feb. 1937 in Zuni, New Mexico and she belongs to the Frog clan. Dennis and Nancy began making jewelry together in 1965 and they have won a tremendous number of awards over the years. They did some of the most intricate and detailed completely handmade inlay work ever done. They are listed in just about every Native Jewelry book and their pieces are found in most Native museums and galleries across the U.S. Dennis passed away in May of 2008 while on his nightly walk thru a neighbor’s corn field. He will surely be missed.
