Wichita artist Dina Huntinghorse pairs high-grade natural Lone Mountain turquoise with sterling silver and solid 14K gold in this intricately handcrafted pendant. Inspired by Avanyu, the Horned Water Serpent, the design frames the turquoise in warm gold while showcasing Huntinghorse’s detailed hand-sawn metalwork.
The pendant is constructed with a sterling silver base plate and solid 14K gold overlay. The gold overlay is individually hand-sawn into the flowing design and soldered over the sterling silver, creating the open pattern surrounding the stone. The Lone Mountain turquoise is set in a hand-cut 14K gold bezel, adding another layer of fine detail.
The craftsmanship continues onto the bail, with etched detailing along the sterling silver edges and a stamped 14K gold overlay through the center. Together, the soft blue-green Lone Mountain turquoise, warm gold, and detailed silverwork create a distinctive one-of-a-kind piece that reflects Huntinghorse’s precision and recognizable style.
